Relighting The Fire Ministries

It was our great pleasure and experience working with Pastor Bob Chin as he counseled our little church in north Seattle this past year.

Even though the size of our congregation was small, and maybe our issues were oh-so-common (though we didn’t know any better to think so),  it was great to have such a wise and experienced  advisor, advocate, leader, and friend… to be alongside us through the “tangles of life” to help us find God’s will for our pastor, church, and for ourselves.

I don’t mean that he TOLD us what to do for control or efficiency’s sake, but he allowed us to grow and  to take the time needed  to see ourselves as who we really were –just so we can see what God wanted for us as a BODY of BELIEVERS.  To do any less than that would’ve cheapened the experience for us, since we know that in the end, it’s God who ultimately leads us to our decisions, and Pastor Bob was just there to guide and share with us his experiences and God’s Word along the way—and of course, to make sure we didn’t falter or give up too soon, too!

Pastor Bob Chin speaks straight to you. He tells it like it is, and shares many personal experiences from his life, to reinforce the point he is trying to make.   It’s almost as if God had groomed him and his wife Jean, for all these years, for this very purpose of going through all kinds of church experiences, just to come and tell us TODAY what’s applicable to US. 

And that, I must say, is sometimes the most compelling thing of all about Pastor Bob and his work with us. This guy LIVES what he preaches… or shall I say (and he’s not too proud to say it as well), he’s willing to share openly about all his mistakes and about how God has taught him and formed him since then. It’s all for God’s glory, so that we can learn from his own experiences….. both good and bad, but all from the heart of God. 

And learn from them, we have.

And you will too.

The past year of multi-ethnic church-plant coaching with Bob Chin has been very helpful for me.  I was unable to find a coach within my denomination to guide me through this unique, but exhilarating challenge.  I was quite grateful to have found Bob and engage in the coaching relationship with him.  He’s kept me on track keeping the main things on the front burners.  It’s been an  been an encouragement and a blessing to have him pray over me each time we talk, and especially to just let me know that I am doing OK and that he’s in my corner celebrating each tiny victory and helping me overcome the challenges.  Knowing that I have an upcoming conversation with him regarding the events the of the past month is a great motivator to be on task with the right things.

Furthermore I have appreciated learning from his own life (both the successes and especially the shortcomings of his own church-planting experiences.) It sure is great to learn from someone who has been down this road before!.
